The 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine revealed that cells are sensitive to environmental oxygen. Hypoxic conditions trigger molecules called hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), changing over 300 genes and accelerating aging.
Bound oxygen: Hemoglobin combined with oxygen (95-98% saturation).
Dissolved oxygen: Oxygen dissolved in plasma, proportional to pressure. It reaches narrow capillaries where red blood cells cannot pass.
HBOT improves oxygen supply by increasing atmospheric pressure and oxygen concentration, significantly boosting dissolved oxygen levels.
Standard oxygen generators do not significantly change dissolved oxygen in the blood. Increasing dissolved oxygen through pressure is a more effective way to ensure delivery to tissues and organs where capillaries are narrow.
